If you’ve ever gotten stuck trying to get something right using an integrated tool like Windsurf or Cursor you know how infuriating it can be.

You’re asking again and again, trying to get the prompt your giving to get the right result but the AI tool isn’t getting it right.

Here’s a tip: Copy your code and paste it into the external LLM in the browser and ask for the same fix or update.

Sometimes the LLM in the browser version will work better than the integrated tool. Or use an unrelated LLM in the browser like Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

Taking a step back, and getting a high-level view of what you are also trying to accomplish can be helpful. Sometimes there is a simple way that you are overlooking when you’re frustrated down in the details with the AI tool.

Windsurf will also let you hook up other LLMs for use with it – in the higher paid tiers this is available. Same with Cursor. Whatever you have it hooked up to – remember you can always try it right in that LLM directly as well.

And of course – you can (and should) give the issue to multiple LLM’s when you get stuck like this – and see which one can move your project forward the best. You never know when inspiration will hit for how to get through the issue you’re stuck on.

This has saved me countless headaches and makes vibe coding faster and easier.
